In the Mining, Tailing & Concentrate sector, the main treatment needs are related to the recovery of mineral concentrate and the dewatering of sludge from mining processes.
Mining sites, using water to cool the cutting and drilling machinery in the ground, give rise to incredible masses of sludge created by mixing water with clay, silt and some mineral residues. This mud is stored in large collection dams where it waits for it to settle and dry naturally. This is a long process and requires large storage spaces. Once dry, this sludge then has to be collected and disposed of with additional operating costs.
With Matec Filter Presses and our sludge treatment plants, they can dewater the fine waste material suspended in water, recovering it, purifying the water and eliminating the need for settling basins.
